Super Long Exposures
Super Long Exposures are shots that I take using my Formatt-Hitech 16 Stop ND Filter.
The 4-10 minute long exposures create a surreal and dream-like quality to landscape photography that I just can't get tired of.

Yet It Does Not Move
Pendle Hill stands firm against the passing of time. Clouds whistle by, shadows lengthen and tree branches sway.

Spring in Annecy
a super long exposure of the locks at Annecy, France. The unique little alpine town has this beautiful little canal running alongside restaurants and cafe's from Lac Annecy. It's a stunning place.
I used the long exposure to turn the water to glass and to limit the obvious impact of the huge number of people milling around!

One Tree
A lonely tree on the side of a steep hill.
My first real go at using the Formatt hitech 16stop filter. Great fun to use...if you can keep yourself amused during the 10 minutes you're waiting for the exposure to finish!
Clouds drifted past quite conveniently but the changing light over the duration of the exposure makes it guesswork to a degree how long you need to keep it going

She Sells Giant Metal Sea Shells on the Sea Shore
"Mary's Shell" a metal art piece set in the sea off the coast of Cleavleys on the Fylde Coast, Lancashire.
This is a super-long exposure taken as the waves washed through the shell, creating an ethereal seascape, contrasted only by the dark metal.
Taken with a 16 stop filter and a polariser and a great deal of patience fighting against light leaks and sun flare! One of the very few photos that I came away with that hadn't been spoiled!

Blossoms in Madrid
A Super Long Exposure of cherry blossoms in Madrid's el Parque de los Quintos. Standing in a park full of picnickers watching a tree for half an hour is an excellent way to get noticed.
